Eye Hospital is on track to resume key services, with its Out-Patient Department (OPD) expected to formally commence operations by the end of Ramadan and its operation theatre scheduled to be fully functional in the first week of April, according to statements made by Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab during a visit to the facility today.
During a detailed inspection of the ongoing renovation and upgrading projects at the hospital, Mayor Wahab instructed officials to expedite the pace of the construction and repair work.
The mayor articulated that enhancing the city”s infrastructure and modernising hospitals under the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation”s (KMC) administrative control are principal objectives for his administration, aiming to deliver quality medical care directly to citizens.
He stated that upon completion of the current works, the medical centre will offer contemporary amenities for eye treatment. Mayor Wahab also gave assurances that public resources are being used transparently, ensuring that all matters related to development and healthcare are clear to the public.
Looking ahead, the mayor indicated that more health sector facilities would be introduced following successful public-private partnership models.
In his directives to Senior Director Health KMC, Dr. Mahwish Mithani, he emphasised the need to further augment the medical services at the hospital and sustain effective measures to improve the standard of patient treatment.
