Sports: Cricket: Younis wants to conform to Misbah’s work on batsman

Karachi:Former Pakistan skipper and prolific middle-order batsman Younis Khan, who has recently taken up the job of batting coach, said that he would take head-coach Misbah-ul-Haq’s work with the batsman forward.

PCB has recently hired Younis to coach batsmen for the upcoming England tour. Younis said that Misbah has been working for a while with the batsman therefore he would not be looking to coach anything new and would take Misbah’s work forward.

The camp ahead of the England tour has been called off due to rising Covid-19 cases in the country and the team would be relying on reaching England early to practice before series proper.

Younis said that he had a good chemistry with Misbah on the field as the two prolific batsmen get along well when they were in the team and the humble Younis added the two will begin a new inning in different capacity but for the same purpose, to serve Pakistan cricket.

Meanwhile, Younis said that Sarfaraz Ahmed’s presence for the England tour will prove beneficial for the team as the seasoned wicket-keeper batsman has proved his mettle in the past on English soil.

He praised Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali and said that they play well and are talented however the duo have to work on their mental capacity.

Meanwhile, Younis said that he was looking forward to work on Babar Azam, and he added that he wants the talented batsman to achieve better feats than him.
