Spring tree plantation campaign launched

KARACHI:Chancellor of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Jawaid Anwar, inaugurated the spring tree plantation campaign at the 200 acres land of Sir Syed University New Campus in the premises of Education City. Around more than 100 saplings were planted in the current drive at the new campus of Sir Syed University.

The ceremony was attended by the General Secretary AMUOBA, Muhammad Arshad khan Former VC SSUET, Commodore (R) Salim Siddiqui, the Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali, Director SP and D Shahid Aziz, Director Finance Munaf Advani, Ms Afshan Jamshed, Mumtaz Kazmi etc.

Underscoring the benefits of tree plantation, Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar said that the trees are an important part of every community and they increase our quality of life by bringing natural elements and wildlife habitats into urban settings. Many old trees serve as historic landmarks and a great source of town pride. Apart from the life’s essentials, food and oxygen, plants provide additional necessities such as shelter, medicine, and tools.

He urged the SSUET employees and Aligs to play their role and fully participate in the plantation campaign for its success towards green Pakistan. Speaking on the auspicious occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Vali Uddin said that the trees control climate by moderating the effects of the sun, rain, wind, and filter the sun’s radiant energy, keeping things cool in summer. We should make efforts to save the trees because cutting down trees lead to an increase in pollution. Everyone needs to come forward to take the campaign seriously not only planting trees but also protecting them.
