Strict Action Ordered Against Overloading in Rawalpindi School Vans

Following the directives of the Punjab Deputy Inspector General of Traffic, the Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) has initiated strict action against the unsafe overloading of children in school vehicles. This immediate action aims to prioritize the safety of students commuting to educational institutions.

The CTO said that all traffic sector commanders have been ordered to strictly enforce regulations against overcrowding of children in school vans, rickshaws, and buses within their respective jurisdictions.

“Rickshaw drivers will be prohibited from seating children in the front seat,” announced CTO Farhan Aslam. He added that bags hanging from the sides of vehicles like Suzukis, rickshaws, and school vans will not be allowed, and only one passenger will be permitted in the front seat of Suzukis and other school vehicles.

The department’s Education Wing has been tasked with conducting targeted awareness campaigns outside schools and colleges, educating students and the public about the dangers of overloading. Additional personnel have been deployed near educational facilities to enforce the new regulations and promote public awareness.

“Students are the future of our nation; ensuring their well-being is our collective responsibility,” emphasized CTO Farhan Aslam. He appealed to parents to play their role in choosing safe transportation options for their children. He added, “Everyone must play their part to eliminate traffic accidents in the country.”

CTO Farhan Aslam further requested citizens and school administrations to report any observed instances of overloading in school vans, rickshaws, or other student vehicles.
