Summoning of Yasmeen Raja by India’s NIA to Delhi condemned

Srinagar, June 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Chairman, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, has strongly condemned the summoning of Hurriyat leader, Yasmeen Raja, to New Delhi by India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning in a false case registered against her. Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the subject matter for interrogation shows the malicious intent and is very clear that it is being done with a purpose to browbeat the resistance leaders and force them to submission.

“Yasmeen Raja has been espousing the cause of suppressed people of Kashmir for decades and she has been doing it peacefully and politically. The United Nations and other international organizations have recognized the inalienable right of self-determination of the people of the whole world in general and people of Kashmir in particular. So the demand for same can never be illegal or unconstitutional and thus the arrest of any person with such allegations is tantamount to disregarding the UN and its subsequent resolutions which uphold the principal of right to self-determination,” he said.

Shabbir Dar said, Yasmeen Raja and other resistance leaders have been illegally detained or summoned for interrogation so world needs to rise up to the occasion and ensure the safe return and immediate release of all those who are languishing in Indian jails for no crime.
