Supreme Judicial Council Clears Election Commission Leadership

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has dismissed complaints lodged against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja, and two Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members, Nisar Ahmed Durrani and Shah Muhammad Jatoi.

The council reached this decision after reviewing three separate grievances-numbered 532/2021/SJC, 557/2022/SJC, and 563/2022/SJC-during sessions held on November 8 and December 13, 2024.

A statement released by the SJC on Friday confirmed the dismissal. The announcement is now available on the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s website.

This resolution concludes the legal proceedings against the electoral body’s top officials, strengthening the ECP’s position as the nation anticipates future elections.
