The suspect, Yasir alias Yasu, who shot a police constable during a robbery incident on the second night of Eid, was arrested by the police today in an injured state after an encounter.
The incident occurred when Police Constable Abdullah was returning home from his duty and encountered two robbers engaged in a robbery. Allegedly, the suspects opened fire with the intent to kill upon seeing the officer, resulting in him being shot in the leg.
In response to the attack, the SSP City immediately formed a special committee under the supervision of a DSP to investigate the matter. A targeted operation was launched based on technical intelligence, which resulted in the arrest of the suspect after an exchange of fire.
Authorities have recovered the weapon used in the attack, stolen mobile phones, and the motorcycle used in the incident from the possession of the arrested suspect.
The suspect’s second accomplice managed to escape during the operation, and efforts are underway to find him.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has formally praised the performance of the SSP City and his team for the swift action and successful arrest of the suspect involved in the attack on the police officer.
