Prime Minister to pay visit to Rashakai Special Economic Zone today 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will pay a visit to Rashakai Special Economic Zone today [Wednesday}. On the occasion, China Road and Bridge Corporation will brief the Prime Minister about the construction of Rashakai SEZ.

Later the Managing Directors of NTDCL and the SNGPL will brief the Prime Minister about provision of gas and electricity to the economic zone. The Prime Minister will also visit the construction site and address a ceremony there.

Government formulated strategy to overcome Budget deficit: Miftah 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Minister for Finance and Revenue, Miftah Ismail says the budget deficit is a big challenge but the government has formulated its strategy to overcome it. Addressing the ‘National Budget Conference 2022-23, in Islamabad, he said the PTI government took record loans during its tenure, which resulted in the present economic problems of the country. The Minister said the interest payment bill on loans in 2018 was 1499 billion rupees while the circular debt was 500 billion rupees in 2013, which have now multiplied.

He said the present government will spend four thousand billion rupees on interest payments on loans in the coming fiscal year, which will have a negative impact on the national economy. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said 800 billion rupees development program has been proposed in the coming budget, which will usher in a new era of development in the country.

CEC directs to take every possible step for free and fair conduct of by polls in Punjab 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has directed the District, Returning and Monitoring Officers concerned to take every possible step for free and fair conduct of by polls to be held in twenty constituencies of Punjab on the 17th of next month.

In a telephonic contact, the Chief Election Commissioner asked them not to give in to any pressure. He said those creating any sort of obstacle in the election and polling process must be dealt with according to law without any discrimination.

The Chief Election Commissioner said the district monitoring teams should send timely reports to the election commission about the latest situation. Sikandar Sultan Raja directed the district monitoring officers to stay alert and take immediate action on violation of code of conduct.

Foreign Minister reaffirms Pakistan’s keen desire to further strengthen bilateral relations with Iran 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s keen desire to further strengthen bilateral relations with Iran. Talking to Iranian President Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran, he said relations between the two countries are rooted deep in shared history and commonalities of faith, culture and heritage.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of regular exchanges to advance economic and energy cooperation, regional connectivity, operationalization of barter trade and border sustenance marketplaces, and facilitation of Pakistani Zaireen visiting Iran.

He also took up the issue of release or transfer of Pakistani prisoners detained in Iranian prisons. Talking to the Foreign Minister, Ebrahim Raisi said Iran attaches great importance to its economic and trade relations with Pakistan, which have considerable potential for further growth.

Joint venture of Chinese industry with Pakistan’s labour to create win-win situation: Prime Minister 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says the joint venture of Chinese industry and technology with Pakistan’s labour and investment will create a win-win situation for both countries by boosting their production and exports.

In an interview with representatives of Chinese media, he said the two countries are moving toward the second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, comprising regional cooperation and industrialization through establishing the industrial zones. The Prime Minister said in form of CPEC, Pakistan has been the first beneficiary of the Belt and Road Initiative of President Xi Jinping.

Replying to a question, he said the CPEC projects faced some hiccups during last three to four years but the incumbent government is resolved to take it to “Pakistan Speed” to fill the gap. To another question, Shehbaz Sharif said the enemies cannot digest the close China-Pakistan ties but reiterated his government’s resolve to ensure security of the Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

Chief of Joint Staff Argentina lauds Pakistan Navy’s efforts for maritime security 

Islamabad, June 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief of Joint Staff of the Argentinean Armed Forces Teniente General Juan Martin Paleo who is on official visit to Pakistan, called on Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi at Naval headquarters, Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the meeting, they discussed professional matters of mutual interest and changing security situation around the world. The Naval Chief highlighted the role of Pakistan Navy in ensuring regional maritime security and peace. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan Navy’s efforts for maritime security and stability. The visit of the Chief of Joint Staff of the Argentinean Armed Forces will promote relations between the two countries.
