16th International Engineering and Machinery, Food and Rice Technology and Halal Food Asia International Exhibitions inaugurated

Lahore, September 03, 2018 (PPI-OT): Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce and Mr. Murad Raas, Provincial Minister for Schools Education inaugurated the 16th Int’l Engineering and Machinery, Food and Rice Technology and Halal Food Asia International Exhibitions respectively under aegis of the E-Commerce Gateway and Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry today at Lahore Expo Center. The three-day Exhibitions would remain opened from today till September 3, 2018, which will also cater the Business to Business (B2B) meetings for probable joint ventures.

Mian. Aslam Iqbal, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Investment while addressing the media said that the collaboration of Chinese companies with Pakistani companies would yield promising results and bring instrumental in relocating China’s manufacturing facilities to Pakistan. He underlined that the successful operation for technology transfer from China to Pakistan needed specialized technical institutions which will be the prime focus of the new government by training youth for employment generation.

Dr. Murad Raas, Provincial Minister for Schools Education, expressed his government’s stance on providing one-stop solution to foreign investors under one roof. He said that with the escalation of labour cost and other cost of doing business in China, this is the right time for Pakistani manufacturers to do joint ventures for acquiring state of the art technology, financial and human capital and huge market orders from the nooks and corners of the globe.

Mr. S.M. Naveed, President Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dr. Khursheed Nizam, President Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan, while expressing their views on this occasion, were quite optimistic for the success of these two exhibitions. It is notable that over 150 delegates from 11 countries including China, UK USA Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Iran and Singapore were participating in the three-day exhibitions. The exhibitions have showcased over 150 products at 350 stalls.

PCJCCI collaborates with Sichuan International Chamber to establish Pakistan-Chengdu Economic and Trade Center

Lahore, August 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has embraced a long-term collaboration with Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce, Halal Food Commission to establish Pakistan-Chengdu Economic Trade Center for creating joint business activities between China and Pakistan, especially for establishment of Special Economic Zones in Pakistan under CPEC.

In this connection, an MOU has been signed as final phase of the efforts taken by PCJCCI trade delegation in a current visit of China under leadership of Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI, who signed the MoU on behalf of his Chamber. From Sichuan International Chamber, Mr. Ma Zhijun, President of the Sichuan International Chamber of Commerce, Halal Food Commission signed the MOU.

Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI, while addressing the signing ceremony expressed deep gratitude to Mr. Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu, China, who played the pivotal role in concluding this MOU. He hoped that the MOU would pave way to further expand friendly relations between Pakistan and China as a sustainable support initiative. It will benefit both the countries by developing trade relations and all-round cooperation between the two countries, he said adding that Pakistan-Chengdu Economic and Trade Center would prove to be a strong organ in promoting economic, commercial, financial and industrial collaboration between Pakistan and the Western China.

He hoped that the Center would play a significant role in introducing Pakistani citizens to the vast and alluring areas of Western China. On the other hand, it will also help the Pakistani businessmen by providing them a platform for consultancy services, accommodation, catering in Western region of China, he said. Mr. S.M. Naveed met with people from tourism industry and further said that, “We are eager to take the plunge for the Chinese tourism in Pakistan and make use of the natural revenue in the best way we can”. He was confident that the development of tourism industry could do wonders for Pakistan’s economic development and also cultivate good will and soft image of the country at global level.

Mr. S.M. Naveed, assured that the agenda of Pakistan-Chengdu Economic and Trade Center would also be promoted in Pakistan as a part of PCJCCI development activities to bring the business communities of the two nations closer not only economically but also socially so as to flourish the bilateral relations.

PCJCCI launches move to invite investment for 37 SEZs

Lahore, August 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a sustainable move in China to attract Chinese business community for investment in the 37 Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to be set up in Pakistan under second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It was observed by Mr. S. M. Naveed, who is leading a delegation of PCJCCI to China along with the executive committee members, in a press statement issued from Beijing.

“We have taken Pakistan’s diplomats, based in China, on board to make the second phase of CPEC, a brilliant success”, he said adding that PCJCCI wants to further promote the bilateral business between Pakistan and China in liaison with Pakistan Embassy and consulates in China.

While speaking to the diplomats, he has highlighted the scope of SEZs, which is the second phase of CPEC, under which he is positive to have more business activities between the businessmen of China and Pakistan. PCJCCI has identified the industrial sectors of Pakistan where up-gradation is required with the help of Chinese companies and which can benefit Pakistan’s export for producing labor intensive products.

“We are going to discuss the upgradation of our industrial sectors through transfer of Chinese Technology and expertise with the industrial corporations of China”, he said and underlined the textiles products, leather products, leather shoes, carpets, glass work, paintings, handicraft, and agriculture products such as organic vegetables, fruits and live stock have a great potential for upgradation and export promotion through joint ventures with China, he added.

President PCJCCI, in a telecommunication with Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif, informed that his delegation was greatly being helped by Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador of Pakistan Embassy and his Commercial Consulates to penetrate into the Chinese business community to get MOUs for SEZs under second round of CPEC.

It is notable that so far nine out of 37 SEZs have been identified to be established in different areas of Pakistan. One each in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan and Islamabad, two in Sindh and one each in FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

PCJCCI Delegation Witnesses Warm Welcome in Beijing

Lahore, August 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): The trade delegation of Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) reached China the other day and got a warm welcome by Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador and other dignitaries at Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing.

At this occasion, Mr. S.M Naveed, President PCJCCI, said that PCJCCI is promoting bilateral business between Pakistan and China. He also elaborated about the obstacles faced by the industries of Pakistan due to lack of modern and up-to-date technology which is needed for the betterment of industrial units. He said the private sectors of both Pakistan and China should develop close cooperation to draw maximum benefits from CPEC-related projects and explore untapped areas for mutual collaboration.

Mr S.M Naveed asserted that China now occupies the largest share in Pakistan’s total imports. Pakistan imports 24% of electrical equipment and 21% of machinery for strategic applications from China. Whereas, China is also ranked, as the 2nd largest export destination of Pakistan with a share of 7.7 percent in Pakistan’s total exports. This difference act as catalyst to establish joint ventures for the peace and prosperity of both sister nations. He also deeply acknowledged that the hospitality and love received by the PCJCCI delegation on arrival is highly commendable.

Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador of Pakistan Embassy, China highly applauded the efforts of PCJCCI in promoting economic relations with China and assured of the fullest support for strengthening economic ties between the two countries in collaboration with Pakistan’s vibrant trade bodies like PCJCCI.

PCJCCI delegation to expand trade and investment relations with China

Lahore, August 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): A delegation from Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) is leaving for China on this Saturday, 4th August 2018 with the vision of reviving joint business activities between Pakistan and China. Mr. S.M Naveed, President PCJCCI, will be leading the delegation which includes members of executive committee as well. Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI while commenting on the visit in a press statement today said that PCJCCI had taken this initiative for the expansion of trade between Pakistan and China.

Giving the details in this regard, he informed that during its stay in China, the delegation will also hold a meeting with the Ambassador, Commercial Counsellor and other officials at Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing. The main agenda of this meeting, he said, is to introduce our entrepreneurs with the Chinese techniques and technologies being used in the fast growing industry in China. The delegation will visit different industrial units of Tianjin and Chengdu to attain knowledge about contemporary techniques of Chinese industry in steel sector, pre-fabricated houses, textiles, agriculture, surgical instruments and tourism, he added.

Mr. S. M. Naveed was confident that the delegation will create effective impetus for Chinese investment in Pakistan by inviting Chinese business corporations and concerns to avail of the business opportunities available in Pakistan. As a result of the effective pre-visit campaign, a number of business groups from Chinese private sector, apart from the public sector, have evinced interest in meeting the delegation to discuss possibilities of the joint ventures.

President PCJCCI expressed optimistic scope for further expansion of trade and investment relationship with China, as Pakistan is in a position to provide economical labour, reasonable raw material and attractive incentives for a low-cost business in the region. It is a time of change, we must take advantage of the opportunities arising from China Pakistan Economic Corridor to meet the challenges brought about by economic transformation and globalization, he added.

PCJCCI gets preferential status from Chinese Embassy for visa issuance

Lahore, June 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has been given the preferential status by Chinese Embassy in Pakistan with regard to issuance of visa for its members. It was informed by Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI in a press statement issued here today. He told that during a recent meeting with a delegation of PCJCCI at Islamabad, the Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing was requested to give preferential treatment to PCJCCI recommendations for issuance of visas to the Pakistani Businessmen so as to materialize the efforts to promote bilateral trade and investment between China and Pakistan.

Mr. S. M. Naveed said he, along with PCJCCI Secretary General Salahuddin Hanif, when made a visit to the Chinese Embassy the other day at Islamabad, the Ambassador Yao Jing paid a very warm reception to them and highly appreciated the services to be rendered by PCJCCI and termed them very effective to fill in the communication gap between people of China and Pakistan.

Mr. Naveed told that the Ambassador had extremely applauded the initiatives of promoting Chinese Language and culture, video conferencing facility and especially the efforts to support the visit of business delegations coming from China and Vice Versa. He informed that the Ambassador, while commenting on PCJCCI efforts to promote bilateral business ties, was confident that the enhanced communication and frequent exchange of trade delegations between the two countries would prove to be highly beneficial in achieving the ultimate goal of mutual prosperity and economic development.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the forthcoming visit of delegation comprising Executive Committee Members of PCJCCI to Beijing, Guangzhou and Chengdu and offered his support to make it even more fruitful so this can be utilized for business matchmaking and arranging meetings with concerned business counterparts in China, PCJCCI President added.

S.M. Naveed reiterated that Pak- China Chamber provides one stop solution to Chinese delegates which includes but not limited to facilitating Visa issuance, security provision, business to business, business to government meetings, industrial visits, SEZ, Providing awareness regarding taxation policies, SECP formalities, banking network, prefeasibility reports and market assessment report. “We have proposed to support the restarting of operations of Cathay Pacific airlines which was ceased in 2014”,Naveed said and informed that it was the only airline which had been catering to twenty destinations from Pakistan to China while other airlines presently operating China – Pakistan route only caters to 5 or 6 destinations.

PCJCCI steps ahead to develop Gilgit Baltistan as Pak-China joint Tourism Zone

Lahore, April 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): President Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) Mr. S.M. Naveed has proposed to develop Gilgit Baltistan as a joint tourism zone for people of Pakistan and China. While addressing a meeting of PCJCCI Think Tank today, he urged the government to lay down a concrete strategy on the development of tourism industry in Gilgit Baltistan through exploitation of the beautiful locations and abundant natural resources available in the region. The meeting was also attended a number of the senior members of PCJCCI.

Mr. Naveed proposed the idea of initiating and welcoming Chinese tourism to Pakistan especially in the region of Gilgit Baltistan as the area is not only loaded with immense beauty but also has so many healthy and useful resources. “we are eager to take the plunge for the Chinese tourism in Pakistan and make use of the natural revenue in the best way we can”, he said adding that Gilgit Baltistan is the cross section of the world’s four famous high altitude mountain ranges which include Karakoram, Himalayas, Hindu Kush and Pamir. Not only this, Mr. further told that the region also carried the status of holding three of the World’s longest glaciers outside the polar region.

Whereas, the environment in Gilgit Baltistan was also conducive for international level’s trekking, mountaineering and hiking, he said and observed that development of Tourism industry could do wonders for Pakistan’s economy and also cultivate goodwill for the country globally by carrying out a well-thought tourism plan in the region.

Mr. Naveed further told that Gilgit Baltistan had tremendous archaeological sites such as ancient stone circles and Buddhist stupas. He accentuated that such vibrant cultural expressions reflected through the language, festivals, food, sports, traditional music, arts and handicrafts can undoubtedly carve out peaceful Pakistan image – the crux of diplomatic policy prescriptions. The region has much to give but it is consistently being passed over by the federal government as the financial resources had not been distributed among Gilgit Baltistan masses, he lamented and expressed the aim to raise his voice with active cooperation to undertake a development strategy for Gilgit Baltistan at PCJCCI platform by taking up the matter both at provincial and federal government level.
