China Offers Hot Spring Turbine to Replace Inundated Power Technology

Lahore, April 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): A Chinese Delegation, during a meeting with Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has expressed keen interest in having joint ventures with Pakistan in Energy Sector. The delegation headed by Ms. Zhou Jing Deputy Secretary, Huaiyin District Committee, communist party of China, Jinan also included Mr. Li Cheng Chairman, China Council of International Trade, Mr. Li Qun from Foreign and Overseas Affairs of Jinan Municipal People’s Government and a number of the Chinese government officials.

Prof. Dr. Iqbal Qureshi, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI delivered address of welcome to the delegation in company of the Executive Committee Members and the Secretary General of PCJCCI Mr. Slahuddin Hanif. The delegation put forth numerous propositions for the success of CPEC projects and to promote allied investment from Chinese private sector primarily belonging to SMEs with the cooperation of PCJCCI.

During the course of Discussion, PCJCCI Senior Vice President Presented a Turkish report according to which the vast resources of Hot Springs in Pakistan specially in KPK , Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan and Kashmir can be used for generating 10,000 MW Hydel Power and in the treatment of skin and joint diseases. Mr. Iqbal Qureshi apprised the members that hot springs reservoirs can be used as a centralized system of house air-conditioning coupled with developing recreational/ medication in those parts of Pakistan.

Endorsing this unique idea Ms. Zhou Jing pledged to disseminate this information among all concerned in China to make this idea a success. She was quite optimistic that some Chinese company will be ready to set up specially designed turbines to initiate pilot projects of 5 to 10 MW hydel power which, if successful, will be emulated for further major power generation units.

Prof Dr. Iqbal Qureshi and Mr. Salahuddin Hanif also identified various investment opportunities in other promising sectors of Pakistan including textile, leather, surgical instruments, SEZ development, sports goods, handicrafts, food products, horticulture, floriculture, dairy products and other labour intensive industries.

Concluding the meeting, the head of Chinese delegation invited members of PCJCCI for the upcoming business expo in Jinan to showcase Pakistani Products in order to get repeat orders from China and eventually to reposition Chinese Labour – intensive industry to Pakistan with the collaboration of local Pakistani businessmen.

PCJCCI inks MoU with ICMA to promote research and training

Lahore, April 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMA) for joint research and training activities related to Pak-China Joint ventures. The documents of the MOU were signed by Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI, Mr. Zia ul Mustafa, President, ICMA Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Yasin, Chairman Research and Publications Committee of ICMA Pakistan and Mr. Salahuddin Hanif, General Secretary PCJCCI.

PCJCCI President S.M. Naveed, while speaking on this occasion, thanked ICMA officials for choosing to collaborate with PCJCCI for the upcoming projects and assured complete support from the chamber’ platform. He assured of his fullest support for success of the targets set in the MOU and hoped for a positive outcome of this mutual agreement based fairly to develop, design and implement tailor-made programs”.

He said that the MOU was signed for joint collaboration in research, Training and Event Organization. Both parties mutually agreed upon extending maximum cooperation to exchange information and publications for the joint initiatives regarding training and development of the two organizations, he said adding that the MOU included proposals for joint projects for the benefits of professionals, businessmen and citizens of Islamic Republic of Pakistan as well as the People’s Republic of China.

While commencing on the MOU, Mr. Zia Ul Mustafa acknowledged the important role to be played by PCJCCI plays in the development of business prospects between China and Pakistan. President ICMA urged the members to play an instrumental role in improving the quality of journal through research based articles on economy, taxation, management and other areas. He expressed immense gratitude towards the PCJCCI officials for exploring possibilities of organizing training programs for attracting global entrepreneurs to invest in Pakistan.

The MOU was formally signed by The President ICMA Mr. Zia Ul Mustafa, Chairman Research and Publications ICMA Mr. Muhammad Yasin and President PCJCCI Mr. S.M. Naveed and General Secretary PCJCCI Mr. Salahuddin Hanif. Strategic approach of PCJCCI applauded by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan during CPEC- Myths and Reality Conference 2018

Lahore, March 12, 2018 (PPI-OT): Industrial growth backed by knowledge, technology and innovation leads towards a more systematic and sustainable economic development of any country. It was expressed by Mr. S.M. Naveed, president Pak China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry during his speech at the ICAP conference held to review closely the myths and realities of CPEC.

S.M. Naveed said that apart from the business and trade development, Pakistan should also set its knowledge development goals that could give a more sustainable boost to CPEC and related projects. Pakistan direly needs to enter into partnerships with international technology leaders and knowledge experts for providing opportunities to young scholars to generate fresh innovative startups, he added.

According to S.M Naveed, CPEC could serve as a foundation to help achieve Pakistan’s knowledge economy goals, additionally, Pakistan’s image internationally has to be improved so that more international partners are ready to visit and invest in Pakistan. He informed that PCJCCI is already working on this systematic approach to interrelating industries with knowledge and technology. He said that establishment of Pak China Joint Chamber was solely to facilitate investment and trade relations with China and PCJCCI is exploring more dynamic ways of making this bond stronger and sustainable.

While representing PCJCCI at the ICAP conference which was organized by the northern regional committee, Mr. S.M Naveed also talked about initiatives of PCJCCI for CPEC development projects. He informed that various experts, advisors and fertile minds are behind the strategic implication of PCJCCI projects.

He reiterated that CPEC is a crucial project for both Pakistan and China and everyone should work in his sphere for making this project more visible and realistic. PCJCCI efforts were highly appreciated by the dignitaries present at the conference. It was observed that the efforts and initiatives being taken by PCJCCI will greatly benefit the CPEC future endeavours and will extend the opportunities for the stable economy and trade development. B2B meetings held at PCJCCI between high profile Chinese delegates and local businessmen for upgradation of Electrical and Auto Parts Manufacturing Industry

Lahore, February 28, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Industry and Commerce organized B2B meetings of 31 members’ high profile, multi-sector Chinese Trade delegation with Pakistani businessmen, investors, and entrepreneurs. The delegation was headed by Ms. Teng Shuang, Deputy Minister China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jinan.

The Delegation came with a purpose to hold interactive B2B meetings with potential partners in Pakistan. The area of interest was mainly Auto Parts manufacturing sector including; Electrical accessories, electrical equipment, sheet metal processing, , fiber laser cutting machine and precision machinery along with many other. The head of delegation, Ms. Teng Shuang invited the PCJCI members to JINAN and extended her precious regards and offer to fully cooperate with the Pakistani officials. The B2B meetings were exclusively arranged by the members of PCJCCI to increase the scope of trade and investment in the above-mentioned areas.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Iqbal Qureshi, Senior Vice President of PCJCCI. In the interest of promoting bilateral trade facilities between China and Pakistan, Dr. Iqbal Qureshi expressed utmost aspiration to make these business engagements purposive and productive for the businessmen of both countries.

PCJCCI celebrated Chinese New Year with extreme enthusiasm to bring together new waves of friendly relations

Lahore, February 19, 2018 (PPI-OT): PCJCCI arranged an exclusive New Year celebration ceremony for felicitating Chinese businessmen, entrepreneurs, and investors associated with the platform of Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ceremony was presided by Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI while Senior Vice president PCJCCI, Dr. Iqbal Qureshi, Executive Committee members of PCJCCI including; Mr. Irfan Mehboob and Mr. Rizwan Nisar also extended their greetings to the Chinese guests. Other participants including Mr. and Mrs. Elton and Mr. Ahmed Ma were also present.

S.M. Naveed while addressing the ceremony said that Chinese collaboration has played a great role in keeping the trustworthy relationship intact among the two friendly nations. He said that the decision of Pakistan to join hands with China for the remarkable projects such as CPEC, One Belt, One road, AIIB, SCO and BRICS for building economic and political linkages with neighbours and Asian countries has truly been commendable.

S.M. Naveed further informed that this year PCJCCI, has taken special initiatives to bring investment from China in the eight potential industrial sectors including Furniture, Handicrafts, Textiles, Fertilizer, Cement, Glass work, Energy and Pharmaceuticals. He said that these sectors were jointly identified by the high Authorities of PCJCCI in order to bring positive results in all aspects.

Dr. Iqbal Qureshi while expressing his goodwill to the Chinese friends said that he is confident that the strong bond of Pakistan and China will set a prolific example before the world. He added that the joint efforts of Pakistan and China for the prosperity of both nations have really set a high precedent.

PCJCCI and NUR University signed an MOU for Research and Human Resource Development with Chinese collaboration

Lahore, February 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry is endeavouring to develop industry-academia linkages between Pakistan and China to uplift the local industries at par with international standard and also produce expert human Resource for Pakistan. It was disclosed by Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI during an MOU signing ceremony with NUR International University for joint collaboration to advance research standards by initiating faculty and student exchange programs.

The MOU was signed by Mr. S. M. Naveed, President, PCJCCI and Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Chairman Board of Governors, NIU. While Mr. Salahuddin Hanif, Secretary-General, PCJCCI and Dr. Rakhshanda Rehman, Vice Chancellor, NIU, Prof. Dr. Ijaz Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, NIU, Prof. Dr. Babar Aziz, Dean, NIU, , and Mr. Ali Khan, Director Strategy and Operations, and various dignitaries from research and industry sector were also present during the ceremony.

S.M. Naveed in his address stressed on the need to align manufacturing concerns with latest knowledge and technology. He informed that the purpose of initiating this venture was to indulge young professionals and students for addressing key challenges faced by industry through training sessions from Chinese Industrialists, researchers, and experts. This MOU will facilitate both organizations to produce globally competitive, skilled, market-oriented graduates who can cater to the needs of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, added S.M. Naveed.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Chairman Board of Governors, NIU extended his gratitude towards the members of PCJCCI for their support and efforts in bringing this concept to reality. While highlighting the focus areas of this memorandum, he mentioned that this signing of MOU in not merely intended to promote organizations but to reap fruitful results for the prosperity of both countries. Adding to this Dr. Rakhshanda Rehman, Vice Chancellor NIU emphasized academia to come forward and play a dynamic role for energizing manufacturing sector of Pakistan with fresh knowledge and research.

PCJCCI and NIU support the initiatives taken under the CPEC program and expressed determination to extend full cooperation in the field of research, knowledge sharing and training in order to revolutionize the domestic market of Pakistan. He said that by this initiative we will be able to produce graduates with enough exposure and skills to cater the future requirements for the booming industrial prospects of CPEC.

PCJCCI and E-Commerce Gateway Pakistan successfully engrossed for initiating Pak China Inter Industrial Mobility Program

Lahore, February 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pak China joint chamber of commerce and industry successfully initiated “Pak China Inter Industrial Mobility Program” with the collaboration of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan, with a prime objective to mobilize the potential industries of both China and Pakistan through a series of Trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences, and symposiums.

A ceremony was held on Wednesday at PCJCCI secretariat for the official commencement of this program where Mr. Muddassar Tipu, Consul General of Pakistan in Chengdu appeared as Chief Guest while prominent business leaders including FPCCI Vice Chairman Haji Arfan Yousaf, Chinese nationals, entrepreneurs and various renowned industrialists also participated the launching ceremony.

The ceremony started with the address of Mr. S.M. Naveed, President PCJCCI in which he told about the idea behind the initiation of such program. He referred Inter Industrial Mobilization as a systematic approach of mobilizing Industries of two countries through which the participants are provided an opportunity to visit, see and learn about the market trends, potentials, operations and challenges of each other’s industries.

According to him, Industrial Mobilization provides a good understanding of key issues, available opportunities, prospects, and remedial measures during the mobilization process. Moreover, S.M Naveed correlated the significance of such mobilization with the upcoming and ongoing CPEC Projects. S.M Naveed said that Pak China Inter Industrial Mobility program encompasses a four-pronged strategy i.e. to expand Market Linkages, Promote Industrial Relocation, Technology Transfer and ultimately to bring massive employment opportunities in Pakistan.

Adding to this Dr. Khursheed Nizam, President Ecommerce Gateway said that this industrial mobility initiative jointly taken by PCJCCI and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan would serve as a convention for entrepreneurs and investors from Pakistan and China to identify new investment opportunities in different manufacturing and services sectors.

Appreciating the initiative of PCJCCI and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan, Vice Chairman FPCCI and Incharge Regional Office, FPCCI Lahore Haji Arfan Yousaf apprised about the industrial revolution that is associated with the relocation of Chinese Industry to Pakistan. He appreciated the PCJCCI initiatives and also urged the other Chambers to develop such development programs.

Dr. Iqbal Qureshi, senior vice president PCJCCI in his speech talked on the technology transfer facilities to channel Chinese technology in a bid to support and groom the local Pakistani industry. Furthermore Mr. Ijaz Azeem, GM marketing PIEMDC shared his valuable insight and knowledge regarding SEZ’s while Mr. Monis Rehman CEO Rozee.pk talked about the extensive employment opportunities created under the umbrella of CPEC.

Closing Remarks were expressed by the honourable Chief Guest, Mr. Muddasar Tipu. He congratulated PCJCCI and Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan on the commencement of this highly productive initiative. He informed the participants that Chengdu had a lot of business opportunities for Pakistani businessmen for mutual cooperation in plenty of the potential areas of trade and industry.

He apprised that Majority of 500 fortune innovative companies are located in Chengdu which clearly depicts the economic importance of Chengdu City. He identified various sectors including; Tourism, hospitality, Education, Dental surgery equipment, Information Technology and machinery that has vast potential in Chengdu. He offered his services to extend maximum possible facilitations to Pakistani Delegations organized by PCJCCI.
