Illegal constructions continue in city

Karachi:Illegal constructions and use of substandard material is continued in the megacity, as Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) is not taking action against what people call "Builders Mafia". These constructions are seen in every district of the city. When citizens complaint against them, they are harassed and involved in fake cases. Buildings constructed with substandard material are also threat to lives of citizens. Concerned citizens have appealed to the higher authorities to take notice of the issue and check the builder mafia from looting, plundering and harassing citizens.

(City): Two killed, seven injured in Karachi building collapse

Karachi:Two people were killed and seven others, including women and children, injured when a four-storey residential building collapsed in Korangi Crossing’s Allah Wala Town on Thursday. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies and injured from the debris. About 50 to 20 families were living in the rain-affected building. The injured include Nisha, 40, Nazish, 17, Ayub, 59, and Rani Iqbal, 35. The authorities had directed the residents to vacate the building due to fear of its possibly fall. Several families had left the building but about two families were still living in it. Police and Rangers cordoned off the area for rescue operation.
