QUETTA:Junior Teacher Association has started observing hunger strike till death in their protest camp set up outside Quetta Press Club on Monday, demanding redressal of their grievances.
Muhammad Yousaf Kakar, President, JTA, who is observing hunger strike till death with two other teachers, said that he tried his best to persuade the authorities for getting the grievances of junior teachers redressed, but no step was taken from the part of authorities to address the genuine issues being faced by the junior teachers of the province.
Repeating the demands of junior teachers afresh, he called on authorities to implement 50 percent promotion quota for junior teachers of the province, promote grade-9 teachers to grade-14 and grade-14 teachers to grade-16, otherwise their protest would continue. He added, “If anything happened to protesting teachers during their hunger strike till death, high-ups of Education Department would be responsible for that.”
