Technology – Nation Prioritises Digital Skills and Language Adaptation Amidst Billion-Dollar AI Investment

The nation is embarking on significant initiatives for its young population, including a substantial investment of one billion dollars in artificial intelligence (AI) and the upskilling of one million individuals in AI proficiencies. This move is part of a broader governmental drive aimed at fostering productive employment among the country”s youth.

Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima reiterated the administration”s commitment to creating job opportunities for young people, according to a report today.

Speaking at a recent event in Islamabad, the minister referenced the Prime Minister”s announcement during Indus AI week concerning the substantial AI investment and training programme.

Additionally, the Minister highlighted a critical effort underway to bridge the linguistic gap in modern technology. A collective of linguistic and technological specialists is being assembled to devise Urdu equivalents for contemporary tech terminology.

She stressed that a significant portion of current technological terms lacks Urdu translations, underscoring the necessity of integrating these expressions into the national tongue for enhanced public access and comprehension.

Furthermore, Ms. Fatima disclosed that the administration is developing public digital infrastructure. This development is intended to facilitate the seamless exchange and compatibility of data across various platforms.
