Police took action against a protest by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in Mirpurkhas on Monday, detaining a local leader and seven other activists.
The police action was taken against TLP members who gathered in front of the Press Club in violation of the imposed Section 144. Among those arrested is a prominent figure, Taj Muhammad Hanfi.
The other individuals taken into custody have been identified as Sameer Ali, Shahzaib, Owais, Abdul Ghafoor, and Abdul Haq. Following the arrests, law enforcement agencies immediately moved the TLP members to an undisclosed location.
Following this crackdown, security in the city has been tightened. To maintain law and order, a heavy contingent of police has been deployed throughout Mirpurkhas, and strict checking is being conducted at all entry and exit points to monitor the movement of vehicles.
