Textile factory’s gas disconnected, one nabbed

Karachi, October 26, 2018 (PPI-OT): SSGC is showing zero tolerance against gas thieves in the Company’s franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan. In a latest crackdown, SSGC disconnected the gas connection of Kassim Textile Mill, one of Asia’s leading textile mills located in Karachi’s Landhi industrial. SSGC team along with Intelligence Wing reached Kassim Textile Mill for inspection on a tip from intelligence sources that Mill management has been violating Gas Sales Agreement.

The Mill administration did not allow the raiding party to enter the premises and closed all the entry points. In accordance with Section 23 of Gas (Theft Control and Recovery Act) 2016 passed by the National Assembly, the gas supply line of Mill disconnected. In the first raid, Plastic Moulding Works in Liaquatabad was also raided where the culprit was stealing gas by tampering with SSGC gas meter. Gas was being stolen at 290 cubic feet per hour. Claim will be raised against the factory in accordance with the load.

Another raid conducted on a sweet shop in Madina Colony, FB area where shop owner was using gas direct from main line and load observed was 220 cubic feet per hour. The owner was arrested and claim against the stolen gas will be raised. In the same area’s katchi abadi, more than 30 houses were using gas directly through main line which were also removed. In a statement, SSGC has reiterated that it will continue to intensify raids on industrial customers
