Thatta court grants pre-arrest bail to brothers of lawyer leaders

The court of the Second Additional Sessions Judge Thatta today granted pre-arrest bail to three brothers of prominent legal figures in a firing case, which lawyers allege is a retaliatory action by an influential landlord to pressure them into withdrawing a previous criminal complaint.

The Second Additional Sessions Judge, Thatta granted protective bail to Aamir Ahmed, Ghulam Hussain, and Shakeel Ahmed Kumbhar, who were named in a case registered by the local police. The court also directed authorities to present the case record on January 7.

The case was registered against the brothers of Javed Kumbhar, Joint Secretary of the Thatta Bar Association, and senior lawyer Shabbir Kumbhar, on the complaint of a driver associated with an influential person.

Speaking to reporters, Javed Kumbhar claimed that the case against his brothers is a fabricated attempt by landlord Rasool Bux Jakhro to coerce his family. He alleged that it was an attempt to force the withdrawal of an ongoing case against Jakhro’s nephew, Haider Jakhro.

According to Kumbhar, his relative, Shoaib Kumbhar, was permanently disabled after alleged firing by Haider Jakhro in a previous incident. The case related to this attack is currently pending in court, and the accused is under arrest.

As a show of solidarity, legal experts boycotted court proceedings at the Sessions Court Thatta. This protest was held on a call by the Thatta Bar Association in response to the registration of a case against the relatives of its senior members.
