As part of the massive ongoing crackdown on the illicit supply of gutka material ordered by IGP Sindh, the Thatta police today thwarted an attempt to transport large quantities of banned substances in a Mazda truck and an Alto car by arresting five accused.

According to a police report, on a tip-off, a police team, headed by SHO Thatta Athar Channa, intercepted the vehicles near the Satio Link Road and seized a Mazda truck and an Alto car, recovering 5,172 kilograms of gutka material and 550 packets of gutka mawa.

The arrested suspects were identified as Fawad Khan, Naeem Khan, Jahanzaib, Farooq Khan, and Qaiser Khan. The vehicles and the confiscated material have been taken into custody, and an FIR has been lodged under the Gutka Act at the Thatta Police Station. Further investigation was underway to uncover the broader network involved in the illegal trade.
