The government should take into its custody the properties of Afghans who have returned to their homeland: Awami National Party

Awami National Party (ANP) Karachi East’s Vice President, Lala Saeed Khan, has said that the Sindh government should take custody of the houses of Afghans from the Afghan camp who have returned to their homeland, Afghanistan, because the land mafia is active and has occupied the entire area. Strict action should be taken against them.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ANP Karachi East Vice President Lala Saeed Khan condemned the widespread occupation of houses left behind in the Afghan camp area and expressed his party’s resolve not to let Pashtun properties be seized. He demanded strict and immediate action against these groups.

Khan also leveled serious allegations against the Sindh Police, claiming they are harassing Pashtun Afghan residents in the city under the guise of the refugee repatriation program. He termed this alleged mistreatment “unbearable,” which he said also includes extortion from legally residing Afghans.

The ANP official stated that Afghan citizens holding legal documents are allegedly being arrested and their homes are being illegally raided. He demanded an end to the “humiliation of Afghans with legal documents by unjustifiably declaring them illegal.”

While acknowledging the government’s policy on the repatriation of undocumented Afghans, Khan clarified that any injustice against legal Afghan citizens under this pretext will not be tolerated.

Khan urged the provincial government to take immediate notice of the “inhuman behavior” of the Sindh Police. He also warned the ruling party to refrain from taking actions that could promote further instability in Karachi and the province.
