Peshawar, December 31, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan Mehsood has directed police high ups to sensitize the general public through a special campaign against the menace of aerial firing so as to effectively put an end to it on the eve of New Year night.

These directives were given to all Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and Distirct Police officers (DPOs) throughout the province in a circular issued from CPO toady. It has been stated in the circular that every year precious human lives are being lost due to aerial firing and it was high time to adopt zero tolerance against it and register cases against those taking law into their hands.

They were further directed in the circular to get support and help of all the elected representatives and elites of the area and all SDPOs and SHOs shall lead the campaign from the front. It has also been mentioned in the circular that in case of receiving any complaint against aerial firing the concern SDPOs and SHOs would be taken to task.

Similarly all DPOs have been directed in the circular to meet with the prayer leaders of every mosque in their respective district and request them to educate and motivate the general public especially in the Friday’s sermon to refrain from aerial firing which brings nothing but destruction. At the end of the circular Peshawar police have been directed to strictly prohibit aerial firing in the periphery of Peshawar air port so as the lingering threats to the flights due to aerial firing could be averted.
