The Syndicate of the University of Sindh today approved a substantial budget of 9.44 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2026-27 and endorsed a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy aimed at revolutionizing the institution’s digital environment.
During the 213th meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Fateh Muhammad Mari, the Syndicate highlighted its commitment to ensuring educational quality and financial stability. The approved budget includes grants provided by the Government of Sindh and the Federal Government, as well as funds generated by the university itself.
Professor Mari expressed gratitude to the Government of Sindh and the Higher Education Commission for their financial support. He emphasized that additional financial aid would strengthen educational infrastructure and enhance higher education opportunities across Sindh.
The newly approved budget prioritizes student facilities, research, and innovation. It also focuses on the development of entrepreneurial skills and startup initiatives, aiming to produce expert graduates and foster a creative academic environment.
The Syndicate also endorsed the university’s new ICT policy, which aims to modernize the digital infrastructure with secure and high-quality IT and internet services. This policy will promote the use of domain-based services of the university to improve communication, cybersecurity, and academic collaboration.
Members collectively expressed pride in Vice Chancellor Mari’s attainment of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a national honor recognizing his contributions to higher education and academic leadership.
The meeting paid tribute to the late former Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. A.Q. Ansari and other distinguished scholars. Prayers were offered in their memory, acknowledging their valuable services to the academic community and stating that it is an irreplaceable loss.
Several prominent figures attended the meeting, including Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Shah and Secretary Universities and Boards Department Government of Sindh Muhammad Abbas Baloch.
