The Meteorological Department has today forecast generally hot and humid weather across the country, prompting the nation to brace for intense heat. However, there is hope for relief in some areas, as heavy winds and thunderstorms with rain are predicted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Islamabad, northeastern Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
This morning’s temperatures further highlighted the grip of the heatwave in major cities: temperatures in Islamabad and Karachi were recorded at 28 degrees Celsius, while Lahore and Peshawar were slightly higher at 31 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Quetta’s temperature was 24 degrees Celsius and Gilgit’s was 26 degrees Celsius. The hilly area of Murree provides a cool refuge at 16 degrees Celsius, and Muzaffarabad’s temperature was 22 degrees Celsius.
Residents of the areas expected to be affected by rain are advised to stay updated with the latest weather information and prepare for potential disruptions due to expected thunderstorms.
