Pakistan today strongly responded to and condemned India’s recent claims at the United Nations Security Council, which it considers India’s attempts to distort facts regarding the Indus Waters Treaty and terrorism in the region.
Pakistan states that India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty is illegal, as there is no provision for such action in the treaty. The Arbitral Tribunal reaffirmed in August 2025 that the treaty remains valid and enforceable. Pakistan warned that India’s use of shared water resources as a political weapon, allegedly to create water crises in Pakistan, poses a significant threat to regional and global stability.
Furthermore, Pakistan challenged India’s terrorism allegations, stating that these accusations are an attempt by India to cover up its own support for terrorist activities against Pakistan. The Pakistani representative accused India of supporting terrorist groups like Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), responsible for multiple civilian and law enforcement personnel deaths in Pakistan.
Moreover, Pakistan accused India of continuing state terrorism in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan maintains that this region is not legally part of India and criticizes India’s alleged violations of Security Council resolutions and the United Nations Charter. The Pakistani delegation demanded that India adhere to its international obligations and cease violations of legal agreements.
The ongoing diplomatic dispute highlights the fragile nature of relations between the two nuclear-armed neighboring countries, where each side is making serious allegations against the other on a global scale.
