EOBI pensioners have been left stranded for seven days as a result of a system malfunction in Bank Alfalah’s main server, leaving thousands of senior citizens unable to access their pensions.

According to a report today, thousands of retired employees from industrial organizations working under federal and provincial government departments are paid a monthly pension of Rs10,000. The bank has only provided ATM cards for pension withdrawals.

Due to a technical issue in Bank Alfalah’s main server, retired senior citizens in Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Shikarpur, and other districts have been tirelessly visiting Bank Alfalah and other ATMs for the past seven days, but none of the EOBI pension cards are functional. Consequently, thousands of pensioners have been unable to receive their payments for a week.

The pensioners state that Bank Alfalah officials assure them daily that the complaint has been filed and that the EOBI ATM services will be restored by the evening, but no progress has been made so far, causing immense distress among the elderly pensioners.

The pensioners also mentioned that they do not receive any other form of pension and solely depend on Rs10,000 monthly pension provided by EOBI, which is already difficult to obtain.

The pensioners have demanded that the technical issue at Bank Alfalah be resolved immediately, a proper investigation be conducted, and their hardships be alleviated.
