Three doctors transferred out of HIV Center Ratodero

Ratodero: Shahida Memon, the contracted in-charge doctor at Ratodero HIV Treatment Center has replaced the three HIV trained doctors Dr. Tegh Bahadur, Dr. Mugfur Arjun and Dr. Mohsin Abbasi without any reason. After being replaced, the lives of more than two thousand patients suffering from HIV in Ratodero city and surrounding areas are likely to be at stake, while the replaced doctors reached Ratodero Press Club, the other day, and recorded their protest against such injustice and recorded their complaint in front of the media on Wednesday.

They alleged that Dr. Shahida Memon is still sitting at the center even though her contract period has expired. They said that where is the justice that an in-charge doctor appointed on the contract basis is giving a transfer letter to the doctors of the 18th grade, while her own contract has expired.

They said that we have been working since the outbreak of HIV in 2019. Doctors from foreign countries have trained us on HIV and after our transfer, HIV patients will face severe difficulties, because giving medicine to HIV patients is not easy for every doctor.

They said that Sindh Health and Population Welfare Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho had praised the work of the doctors during her visit, but the in-charge doctor appointed on contract basis at the center is causing trouble by using wrong tactics against us.

They said that no one is ready to listen to our cries and grievances. They said transfer is our dowry but we trained doctors are worried about the wellbeing of little children, men and women suffering from HIV who will face great problems.

They further alleged that the behavior of the incharge doctor with the patients suffering from HIV is also inappropriate, besides, she has also stopped giving medicines and rations to the innocent poor children, men and women suffering from the viral disease.

They said we talked about this but she started taking revenge against us. They said CCTV cameras have been installed at the centre which too are objectionable because women who are coming to the centre are strictly observing Purda and they complained to us several times against these cameras.

They have appealed to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, MPA of the constituency Faryal Talpur and Provincial Health and Population Welfare Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho to order thorough and transparent investigation of the matter immediately by checking record of the center and do justice to us and the poor patients.

Meanwhile, sources further alleged that about 250 children of Garhi Khero have also been detected HIV positive at the center but the figures are not being disclosed to the media which also need to be probed.
