ATTOCK: Three youth who went to Indus River in Attock to beat the heat drowned on Thursday.

According to rescue sources, three youngsters Asghar, Saifullah and Ikram, hailing from Hazro tehsil, visited River Indus in Attock where they started taking bath and swimming. As they went to deep water, they lost balance and drowned.

Police, rescue teams and villagers rushed to the scene and started rescue operation. Nobody could be recovered till filing this news. The incident has created a mourning atmosphere in the houses of victims.

Villagers said that the incidents of drowning in Indus River have risen in various areas of the country as the authorities have failed to control bathing of the people in the mighty river. If anyone drowns, its responsibility should be on the government and it should also pay compensation to the victim families, they added.
