Throat-slit dead body of woman found in Poonch

Srinagar, December 20, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, throat-slit dead body of a missing 27-year-old woman was recovered in Poonch district. The body of Shakeela Akhter was found in Kunian area of the district. The Station House Officer (SHO) Poonch, Mohammad Anzar Mir, told media men that apparently the woman had some torture marks on her body adding that Shakeela had gone missing two days ago. The husband of the victim woman is said to be in Saudi Arabia since last year.

Meanwhile, people staged a protest demonstration against harassment of women by Indian police personnel in Kishtwar town. The protesters said that the police were harassing the locals, especially women, on the pretext of investigations into the killing of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil Parihar and his brother, Ajeet Parihar.

The residents, led by Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, assembled outside Kishtwar police station and staged a protest against the police and administration. They said, “The police have failed to nab the culprits and are unnecessarily harassing the residents of Tappal Mohalla, the native place of Parihar brothers. It is to mention here that Anil Parihar and Ajeet Parihar were killed by unidentified gunmen on November 01, 2018 while they were on their way to home from their shop.
