An elderly couple was found dead in their residence in New Karachi, their bodies bearing signs of torture and having been there for several days, according to authorities. The victims were identified as 76-year-old Noor Muhammad Khan and his 45-year-old wife, Mahjabeen.
This grim discovery was one of several incidents of violence reported across the city. In another act of violence, the bullet-riddled body of an unidentified man was found near Shireen Bakery in the Pak Colony area. The deceased is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.
Law enforcement personnel were also targeted and engaged. In Lyari, a 35-year-old police constable, Abdullah, was injured in a shooting incident on Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Road. He was moved to Civil Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old alleged dacoit was wounded during a police encounter in Kharadar and was subsequently taken into custody.
Authorities are also investigating the case of another unidentified body, of a man approximately 55 years old, found at Malir Rafah-e-Aam Main Chowk. After an initial police examination, the remains were moved to the Edhi mortuary as the cause of death could not be determined.
Meanwhile, a death in Liaquatabad was ruled to be of natural causes. Rauf, aged between 50 and 55, was found dead at his third-floor residence after neighbors reported a running water tap. The investigation concluded that his death was due to a stroke and a heart attack. His body was handed over to his heirs.
