Treatment of rape-victim girl begins at NICH

KARACHI:A team of doctors at National Institute of Child Health (NICH) on Saturday began medical examination and treatment of the four-year-old girl, Alisha, who brought from Kashmore due to sexual assault.

 

Executive Director, NICVD, Prof Dr Jamal Raza, said the girl from Kashmore was shifted to NICH in the early hours of this morning. She was initially operated at Larkana and subsequently due to respiratory distress, a chest tube was passed. She is currently stable and kept in ICU without a ventilator.

 

He further said child had undergone an examination and the wounds were cleaned and managed. He further said there were evidence of contamination and severe infection for which medications were being given. Dr Raza said there was no urgent surgical procedure required now and they would try to control the infections and review the situation.
