A tree plantation campaign has been launched in Ghotki on the occasion of Independence Day, according to Divisional Social Forestry Officer, Amir Ali Shah. Widespread public participation has been encouraged in this campaign, including all government departments and citizens.
Shah informed that the Ghotki Forest Department operates two nurseries: one near the Ghotki SEPCO office and the other near the Mirpur Mathelo National Highway. Government departments, educational institutions, and health facilities can obtain plants from these locations at a subsidized rate of five rupees per plant.
He appealed to all government and educational institutions as well as the general public to participate fully in this nationwide campaign. Participating groups are required to present an official letter from their respective institutions to receive plants from the nurseries.
Planting trees not only improves the environment but also mitigates the effects of climate change. The DFO emphasized that planting vegetation is a civic responsibility and a legacy for future generations.
