Pakistan and Trkiye on Friday agreed to further expand their defence and security collaboration following a high-level meeting on Friday, focusing on shared strategic goals for lasting peace and stability in the region.
The commitment was made during a formal call-on by the Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, General Selçuk Bayraktaroglu, to Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
During their discussions, both officials reaffirmed the profound historical and fraternal ties that connect their two nations, which are founded on a common heritage, faith, and mutual esteem.
General Bayraktaroglu commended Pakistan’s role in fostering peace and stability within the region. The visiting dignitary articulated Trkiye’s strong desire for enduring regional stability, specifically highlighting the situation in Afghanistan and stressing the necessity of dialogue and cooperation to prevent conflict.
In response, Defence Minister Asif conveyed sincere gratitude for the unwavering support and principled stance demonstrated by the Turkish leadership and its people, especially during difficult periods. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to achieving peace through engagement, restraint, and collaboration with regional partners.
The dialogue also covered various matters of mutual interest, including pathways to enhanced defence and security cooperation.
The meeting concluded on a note of mutual understanding, with both sides resolving to advance the Pakistan-Trkiye defence partnership, driven by a convergence of strategic interests and a shared vision for regional tranquility.
