The law-and-order situation in Shikarpur continues to spiral as two separate incidents of kidnapping have been reported, raising concerns among residents. The incidents occurred in the jurisdictions of Khanpur and Dakhan police stations.
In the first case, Rashid Thaheem, a laborer, was abducted from a fruit farm located in Dakhan. According to initial reports, his relatives and villagers, with the help of local trackers, followed the footprints of the kidnappers and determined that they had taken him toward the katcha area.
The family and community members, in a show of anger and frustration, blocked the Shikarpur-Larkana Indus Highway for six hours. Protesters demanded the swift recovery of Rashid Thaheem and urged the authorities, including SSP Shikarpur and DIG Police Larkana, to take immediate action to address the growing insecurity in the district.
In a separate incident, Shaman Ali Shar, an elderly man, went missing while returning from Sukkur to his village in Khanpur. Initial reports suggested that he was abducted within Khanpur police jurisdiction.
However, SSP Shikarpur refuted these claims through a press release issued on Sunday. He clarified that Shaman Shar was not kidnapped within Shikarpur district and stated that the elderly man had traveled to Sukkur for personal reasons, where his family lost contact with him. The SSP dismissed reports of his kidnapping as baseless and labeled them as “fake news” propagated on social and mainstream media platforms.
Meanwhile, other sources suggested that Shaman Shar may have gone into hiding due to financial distress. It is believed that he was under significant debt, and creditors had been demanding repayment. To escape the pressure, he might have chosen to conceal his whereabouts in Sukkur district.
