The United Kingdom has granted 80 fully financed scholarships to Pakistani pupils for advanced studies at prestigious British universities. The British High Commission in Islamabad announced this initiative on Thursday, highlighting the awards under the esteemed Chevening and Commonwealth programs.

Thirty-two Chevening Scholars will pursue one-year master’s degrees in diverse disciplines. Over 60 percent of these recipients are female, representing nearly every province in Pakistan. The cohort also features a Mansion House-funded scholar pursuing an MSc in Business Analytics at University College London.

Furthermore, 48 Pakistani individuals have received Commonwealth Scholarships for master’s, PhD, and shared programs, entirely financed by the UK.

The British High Commission hosted a reception to commend the scholars’ accomplishments. High Commissioner Jane Marriott congratulated the recipients, emphasizing the transformative nature of the opportunity. She noted the access scholars would gain to top-tier education and a global network of influential alumni.

Incoming Chevening Scholar Rida Tariq expressed enthusiasm for the chance to collaborate with a global community and effect positive change in Pakistan.

Applications for the next cycle of Chevening Scholarships and Fellowships, encompassing the South Asia Journalism Programme and the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Fellowship, are open until October 7, 2025. Commonwealth Scholarship applications will open later this year.
