UAE CG meets deputy speaker, other politicians

KARACHI:Consul General of the United Arab Emirates Bakheet Ateeq Al-Remeithi on Thursday called acting Speaker Sindh Assembly Ms Rehana Laghari at her office in Sindh Assembly Building.

In the meeting, the Consul General briefed her about the establishment and facilities of the UAE Visa Office in Karachi. He said that it was a great pleasure to see a female deputy speaker in Sindh and added the representation of women in government and non-government organizations was also increasing in the United Arab Emirates and the UAE government was working hard to ensure that women were given extraordinary representation in all walks of life.

He further said that the UAE government always supported women with leadership and professional skills in the society and was also involved in supporting women’s welfare projects in friendly countries.

He further said that Pakistani brothers had a great role in the development of UAE and they were personally grateful to them including their government. On the occasion, Remeithi met members of various political parties in the Sindh Assembly and invited them to visit the United Arab Emirates. Secretary Assembly Muhammad Unar Farooq Buriro was also present on the occasion.

Remeithi also visited the new and old historical buildings of Sindh Assembly and was informed about the establishment and historical status of Sindh Assembly. During the meeting, the guest Consul General was also presented a gift of Sindh Sindhi Topi and Ajrak.

Rehana informed that Sindh Assembly is a historic building and a first resolution regarding Pakistan establishment had been tabled in this assembly. She further said that the Sindh Assembly had passed more and better legislation on different issues. The United Arab Emirates is the brotherly Islamic country of Pakistan which has stood by Pakistan in every difficult time, she added.
