UAE signs deal to build $100 million power plant in Yemen

The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation (KBZF) signed on Tuesday an agreement with Yemen’s Ministry of Electricity to build a $100 million power plant in the southern Yemeni city of Aden.

The agreement was signed under the directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the support of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and followup of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chairman of KBZF.

The initiative comes within the framework of the continued programs to support the electric power sector, being implemented by the UAE in the Yemeni Governorate of Aden.

The deal was cosigned at the KBZF headquarters in Abu Dhabi by Minister of the Federal Supreme Council at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs Ahmed Jumaa Al Zaabi as, deputy chairman of the Foundation, and Yemen’s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Najeeb AlAuj, in the presence of Prime Minister of Yemen Dr. Moeen Abdulmalik, and UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi.
