UET Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Computer Lab Funded by Alumni

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has inaugurated a new, fully air-conditioned computer laboratory in its Electrical Engineering Department. The lab was established through a PKR 13 million donation from the university’s alumni. This modern facility is equipped with 100 computers and 14 new air conditioners. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Munir inaugurated the laboratory.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Dean of Electrical Engineering, the department chair, faculty members, and representatives from various industries. Professor Dr. Munir praised the alumni’s commitment to their alma mater and highlighted the university’s focus on providing high-quality facilities, including modern labs, state-of-the-art classrooms, improved hostels, and an excellent campus environment.

The PKR 13 million donation represents the second phase of a larger PKR 20 million project. The initial phase received donations of PKR 7 million. The 14 air conditioners were donated by Azhar Group of Companies, while the 100 computers were jointly funded by Azhar Group, Ittefaq Group, and TF Industries. Alumnus Rifat Ejaz Noor also donated four biometric attendance systems.

Professor Dr. Munir mentioned UET Lahore’s exemplary status among Punjab’s universities, referencing recent record-breaking admissions and praise from the provincial government. He attributed this success to dedication, hard work, and teamwork.

He also announced a PKR 3.5 billion grant from the federal government, demonstrating the confidence of both provincial and federal authorities in the institution. Representatives from the industry reiterated their continued support for the sector’s growth and advancement.
