UN Security Council Condemns Israeli Attack On Doha

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has denounced the Israeli assault on Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The UNSC convened an urgent session in New York, prompted by a request from Pakistan, Algeria, and Somalia. In a declaration released by UNSC President Sangjin Kim, the council members emphasized the need for de-escalation and conveyed their support for Qatar. The council affirmed its commitment to Qatar”s territorial integrity and sovereignty, acknowledging the nation”s crucial mediating efforts amid the Gaza conflict.

The council members reiterated the significance of Qatar”s diplomatic initiatives, along with those of Egypt and the United States, urging all involved parties to pursue peace.

Addressing the UNSC, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani affirmed Doha”s continued humanitarian and diplomatic endeavors. However, he stressed that further infringements on Qatar”s security and sovereignty would not be accepted.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo characterized Qatar as a valuable ally in peacebuilding initiatives and voiced apprehension over Israel”s imprudent actions.
