KARACHI:The U.S. Consulate General Karachi, in collaboration with Lincoln Corner Karachi and Lincoln Corner Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC), marked the conclusion of two week-long cricket camps for male and female students with a final match between the two Lincoln Corners teams at the Consulate. According to a statement on Wednesday, the camps focused on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and allowed male youth, accustomed to street cricket, to learn the rules and regulations of the professional game, while female youth were presented a unique opportunity to enjoy the tradition of Ramadan cricket alongside their male peers.
Acting Consul General Liam Flanagan and Acting Deputy Consul General Elizabeth Sunday attended the cricket match along with the renowned Pakistani cricket analyst and former international cricketer Sikander Bakht and Pakistani female cricket star Aiman Anwer. While talking to the participants, Liam O’Flanagan noted, “Ramzan Cricket matches are such a fun tradition, and I’m looking forward to experiencing this today. I wish it could have been midnight cricket until sehri, but maybe we can do that next year.” Lincoln Corners are partnerships between the U.S. Embassy and selected institutions in Pakistan. Located within universities, public libraries, and cultural centers, Lincoln Corners are multi-media resource centers where visitors can connect, practice their English, and learn about the United States using a variety of resources. This is the second Ramadan Cricket Camp that Lincoln Corner Karachi at Liaquat Memorial Library and Lincoln Corner PACC have sponsored.
