A noticeable disparity emerged between the interbank and open market rates for the US dollar on Monday, according to figures released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan.
In the open market, the American currency was quoted at Rs 280.40 for buying and Rs 281.05 for selling. This contrasted with the interbank market, where the greenback concluded at Rs 280.01 and Rs 280.21 for buying and selling, respectively.
The British pound sterling was valued highest among major currencies, with its buying and selling rates recorded at Rs 376.90 and Rs 380.25.
The single European currency also demonstrated strength, trading at Rs 327.02 for buying and Rs 330.07 for selling.
Among key Middle Eastern currencies, the UAE dirham was noted at Rs 76.49 (buying) and Rs 77.25 (selling), while the Saudi riyal stood at Rs 74.81 (buying) and Rs 75.39 (selling).
The Japanese yen was registered with a buying rate of Rs 1.76 and a selling rate of Rs 1.83.
