Vandalization case: PTI leaders get extension in interim bails

ISLAMABAD: A sessions court in Islamabad on Monday extended the interim bails of 38 PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Sheikh Rashid till June 20.

Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat heard the bail applications submitted by the PTI leaders. The PTI leadership is facing charges of public disorder, arson and damage to public property during May 25 long march by the party.

The court after hearing arguments by the lawyers gave an extension in the interim bails of 38 PTI leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Sh Rashid till June 20. Meanwhile, talking to media outside the court building, former foreign minister Qureshi deplored that today the PTI leadership appeared before the court in false cases registered against them after party’s May 25 long march on Islamabad.

He was of the view that the government was implicating them in cases on purpose as it wanted that the PTI leaders would remain busy in their cases and did not take part in the campaign for Punjab by-elections going to be held on July 17. Qureshi said that the court had summoned PTI lawyers on June 20 to present their arguments. “We have been implicated in false cases. We hope that the court will dispense justice,” the former foreign minister added.
