VC SMBBMU visits Sukkur hospital, college

LARKANA:Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, paid a visit to Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College and Civil Hospital, Sukkur on Sunday to inspect the arrangement so far made for treatment of COVID-19 patients.

She presided over a meeting of faculty members which was also participated by District Health Officer, Medical Superintendent Dr. Taslim Akhtar Khamisani, Principal Dr. Zulfiqar Soomro, Covid focal person Dr. Saleh Muhammad Channa and others. She directed the complete work of the High Dependency Unit (HDU) to make it functional and also visited ICU.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana, Imran Qureshi, paid a brief surprise visit to Naundero Sunday to inspect the closed shops and implementation of SOPs by the residents. He offered free facemasks to the residents including a boy and advised them and the shopkeepers to fully observe SOPs issued by the government to save their precious lives and those of their loved ones.

His attitude towards the common man was very much appreciated by the citizens and shopkeepers which was heart-touching unlike his subordinates which is usually very rough. He asked the shopkeepers to close down their business for two days in a week as directed by the provincial government as a precautionary measure to prevent the coronavirus from further spreading.

He said that journalists should make awareness among the residents so that police are prevented from taking hard actions. He strictly directed the cops to behave politely with poor vendors, poverty-stricken daily wagers and labourers.

Meanwhile, registration of police officers and personnel has been started in Larkana for COVID-19 vaccination. SSP Qureshi said that police are also working as frontline workers and it is necessary to vaccinate them to save their precious lives as they are performing field duties day and night for enforcement of law. He said even those will be vaccinated against coronavirus who are working in offices.

On the other hand, a security plan has also been prepared to provide foolproof security on Youm-e-Shahadat-e-Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) whereby additional police force will also be deployed in villages and towns apart from Larkana city and Rangers personnel will be standby to face any untoward situation. SSP Qureshi directed his police force to provide proper security to Imam Bargahs and mosques across the district and patrolling must also be intensified along with snap checking on all entry and exit points.
