Deans, chairpersons, faculty, officers, and other staff members of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) have congratulated Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai on being awarded the “Sitara-i-Imtiaz” by the President of Pakistan on Independence Day, August 14th.
The SMIU faculty, staff, and administration lauded the President’s decision. They praised Dr. Sahrai’s illustrious career, calling him a senior educationist of Sindh. They also noted that his late father, Taj Sahrai, a respected historian, teacher and scholar, was also a recipient of a presidential award.
The SMIU community highlighted Dr. Sahrai’s transformational leadership at the university. His accomplishments include regularizing the institution, fostering a research environment, overseeing approval of SMIU’s first PhD, guiding nearly ten more PhD candidates who are near completion, launching regular academic journals, establishing modern computer labs including AI facilities, constructing the IT Tower and Hashmat Lodhi Youth Development Center, increasing student enrollment from 1800 to 5500, maintaining high academic standards, turning a large financial deficit into a surplus, creating a “SMIU Development Fund” of Rs. 200 million, ensuring regular meetings of important university committees, addressing staff concerns, and encouraging colleagues to work with diligence and ethics.
