Victim’s Family’s Lack of Trust in Thatta Police, Demand for Transparent Inquiry

The family of Abdul Rehman Arain, a young man allegedly subjected to gang sexual assault, has demanded a complete and impartial investigation into the alleged sexual attack on the student after losing confidence in the handling of the case by local police.

The incident, which allegedly involved a group that not only sexually assaulted Abdul Rehman but also recorded footage to use for blackmail, has led to demands for a transparent inquiry. The family’s appeal for justice was made public during a press conference at Thatta National Press Club with Abdul Rehman’s father, Irfan Ali Arain, his uncle Khalid Hussain Arain, and other prominent figures such as senior lawyer and former president of Thatta Bar Association, Pinhoon Aqili.

Despite the arrest of two suspects, Bilawal Kalhoro and Isa Khaskheli, the family insists that the investigation is incomplete as more suspects remain at large. The absence of further arrests has increased their dissatisfaction with the police’s efforts so far.

Irfan Ali Arain has warned that if the remaining suspects are not arrested soon, the family and their supporters are prepared to escalate their protest. They are demanding immediate and decisive action to ensure the delivery of justice without bias or delay.
