A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at the Makli Police Station against three individuals, who are accused of drugging a twelfth-grade student, subjecting him to sexual assault, and later blackmailing him by making a video of it.
This action was taken after SSP Thatta, Farooq Bajarani, took notice of the incident today, which came to light following protests by the affected student’s family and the alleged viral footage of the assault.
In the FIR, the complainant, Irfan Ali Hamati, stated that he was lured by his friend, Lev Kumar, to an Iftar party in Karachi on March 12. The student alleges that Kumar and his two associates, Shehzad Kolachi and Salman Jokhiyo, served him tea laced with a narcotic, which caused him to lose consciousness.
The complainant, providing further details, said that the accused then subjected him to sexual assault and recorded a video of it.
Following the incident, the main accused, Lev Kumar, allegedly used the video to demand money from the student and threatened to defame him by making the footage public if his demands were not met.
Makli police have registered a case against the three individuals under Section 377 of the Pakistan Penal Code and have initiated a series of raids for their arrest. Although the three nominated accused are absconding, authorities have arrested the brother of the main accused, Mahesh Kumar.
Across Thatta and Makli, civil society organizations and various groups have strongly condemned the incident and demanded the immediate arrest of all culprits involved and that they be given the harshest punishment.
