Water reservoirs are essential for upcoming generation: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar

Karachi, July 22, 2018 (PPI-OT): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has said that the water reservoirs are very essential for upcoming generation. This he said in a ceremony during his visit of Sewerage Water Treatment Plant (TP-III) at Maripur, Karachi. In his speech the CJP stated that He was overwhelmed and said he is luckiest to be associated with the project. The Chief Justice of Pakistan appreciated the efforts of Water Commission and Chief of Water Commission Justice (R) Amir Hani Muslim and the Sindh Government and said that the whole nation and the Supreme Court of Pakistan are proud of Justice (R) Amir Hani Muslim for the services he rendered.

Chief Justice Sindh High Court, various Judges of Supreme Court of Pakistan and Sindh High Court, Chief Secretary Sindh Major Retired Azam Suleman Khan, Chief of Water Commission Amir Hani Muslim, Attorney General of Pakistan, federal and provincial secretaries and IG Sindh, have also attended the ceremony.

While referring the hard work done by Justice Amir Hani Muslim the CJP said that the upcoming generation is their source of energy they are committed to make a better Pakistan for upcoming generation. He further said that he had visited glaciers at Gilgit-Baltistan and said that Allah has gifted this nation with water and “what we have done with the precious gift?” questioned the CJP.

He further stated that everyone in country now saying there is no existence of Pakistan without water reservoirs. We have to save the water through reservoirs. The CJP stated that the people of Gilgit were also happy about Diamer-Bhasha Dam. The Chief Justice of Pakistan while referring the TP-III said it’s unprecedented that such project has been completed in very short period of time.

While taking about cleanliness of Karachi the CJP stated that he is happy to see clean Karachi. “I and my colleagues have witnessed the noticeable change in Karachi”. Added the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The Chief Justice stated that as for as the human rights of the people of Pakistan are concerned they are determined to resolve and he and his all colleagues are on same page and said that Insha Allah they will enforce and ensure that the people of Pakistan get their fundamental rights.

Earlier, the Chief Secretary Sindh Major (Retired) Azam Suleman Khan on behalf of Sindh Government welcomed the honorable Chief Guest, Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, honorable Judges of Supreme court of Pakistan and Sindh High Court, Federal and Provincial Secretaries and others guests.

The Chief Secretary Sindh stated that Greater Karachi Sewerage Project (S-III) is aimed towards improving environmental and Sanitation conditions of Karachi through well integrated system. He further states that the PC 1 of the project was approved by ECNEC at cost of 7,982 on September 2007 on cost sharing of 50/50 by Government of Pakistan and Government of Sindh. “Later, a revised PC-1 for an over all cost of Rs. 36117.459 million was approved by ECNEC on February 7 2018” added the Chief Secretary.

Major (R) Azam Suleman Khan further informed the Chief Justice that the total capacity of plant (TP-III) has been upgraded from 54 MGD to 77 MGD and after completion of phase 2 of the plant the capacity of TP-III will be 180 MGD and the work on phase 2 will be completed in December 2019.

He informed Chief Justice of Pakistan that the Sindh Government on the recommendations of Water Commission in very short period of time has rehabilitated the plant. On the occasion, Asif Haider Shah, Coordinator for Water Commission on Karachi Affairs and Noor Ahmed Samoo have also briefed about the project. Later, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Judges of Supreme court of Pakistan, Sindh High Court along with Chief Secretary Sindh has visited various sites of the TP-III plant where CJP also planted a Neem tree.
