According to today’s weather forecast by the Meteorological Department, a severe heatwave warning has been issued for the central and southern regions of the country. Hot and dry conditions are expected in most parts of the country, raising concerns about health and safety.
Relief from the heat may be experienced in the northern areas, including Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, as strong winds and thunderstorms are forecasted at some locations.
This morning, temperatures in major cities highlighted the extent of conditions across the country. Islamabad recorded 23°C, while Lahore and Karachi had temperatures of 29°C and 30°C, respectively. Peshawar recorded 25°C, and Quetta 20°C. Further north, Gilgit had a chilly 15°C, Murree 21°C, and Muzaffarabad 12°C.
Residents of affected areas are advised to keep themselves hydrated and avoid the sun during peak hours. The Meteorological Department is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
