The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore co-hosted a webinar on using artificial intelligence to secure international research funding.
The online session, titled ‘Advancing Research Excellence: Strategies and Insights for Securing Global Grants and Enhanced Impact with AI,’ focused on integrating AI into research strategy, proposal writing, and global partnerships.
Held under the direction of Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at IIUI, and coordinated by Dr. Nazia Iqbal, head of IIUI’s Department of Psychology, the webinar attracted academics and pupils interested in the changing world of research finance.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Aneela Anwar, a professor at UET Lahore, shared her knowledge on using AI-powered methods to improve research proposals. She highlighted the significance of employing technology for drafting proposals, generating insights, and analyzing impact to boost the odds of receiving international grants. Dr. Anwar also stressed the requirement for institutions to develop frameworks that blend established research techniques with cutting-edge digital resources.
Dr Anwar emphasized that strategically combining AI with funding strategies, interdisciplinary partnerships, and a focus on societal influence is crucial for globally competitive research. She also discussed efficient time and budget allocation within research endeavors, offering practical advice for improved results and long-term viability.
The webinar covered topics such as aligning research proposals with funders” priorities, using AI for research mapping and impact monitoring, and creating technology-integrated research environments for sustained academic progress. The discussion also centered on utilizing data-driven insights and aligning proposals with global research patterns to enhance grant application success.
Faculty, master’s, and doctoral students from IIUI’s Faculty of Social Sciences participated in the session, engaging in a Q and A segment about grant mapping, reviewer feedback, and proposal improvement.
The webinar concluded with a call for future practical training to improve participants” understanding of grant writing and integrating AI into research processes.
