The World Bank has reiterated its dedication to funding two major hydropower initiatives in Pakistan, offering a significant boost to the nation”s energy sector. World Bank”s Country Director for Pakistan, Bolormaa Amgabbazar, met with WAPDA Chairman Muhammad Saeed to discuss the financial aspects of the Dasu and Tarbela 5th Extension hydropower projects.

During the discussion, Saeed emphasized the importance of both projects in providing inexpensive and sustainable power for Pakistan’s socio-economic advancement.

Amgabbazar confirmed the World Bank”s ongoing monetary assistance for WAPDA’s hydropower endeavors.

The global financial institution is contributing $1.517 billion to the ongoing first phase of the Dasu Hydropower Project and $390 million to the Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project. These investments underscore the institution’s confidence in Pakistan’s energy future.
