World will become a better place when we see a balance between the genders: Sadiq Sanjrani

Islamabad, March 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani has said that on the occasion of International Women Day, I express my profound respect and regard for all the women who are struggling to achieve a balance in their personal and professional lives while striving to leave a mark in the world in their own right. While it is pertinent and important that the female gender is encouraged, appreciated and respected throughout the year, the rationale of celebrating this day is to stop and ponder the important part women have to play in this world.

Sadiq Sanjrani said that Pakistan has come far in the way for providing better opportunities for women as well making the society a better, safe and accessible place for women to live and work in in comparison to earlier years but still is wanting of more to be done. From easy access to different levels of education to equal salaries for men and women, from freedom to be able to take major decisions in life to feeling safe in the home and outside, from respect of individual personality to acknowledgment of talents, there is room for a lot more. On this day we should commit ourselves to providing the best possible treatment to all the women in different stratas of the society.

Chairman Senate said that Pakistani women have left their mark in almost every field and have made their name not just nationally but internationally as well. Pakistani women have also made themselves prominent in politics and their role in legislation for the country cannot be ignored. Senate of Pakistan takes pride in the fact that the anti-honor killings bill was initiated by the Senate of Pakistan and by a woman.

He said that the world will become a better place when we see a balance between the genders. Celebrating women day signifies not just equality but the principle of equity, where male and female genders have specified roles but at the same time have equal opportunities and access to everything there is in the world.

On this occasion I believe that words of the Quaid-e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah “No struggle can ever succeed without women participating side by side with men. No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. There are two powers in the world; one is the sword and the other is the pen” are a guiding principle for us as an individual and for the House.
