Zimbabwe beat Pakistan to level series 1-1

KARACHI:Host Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in a low scoring second match to level the three-match T20I series 1-1 at the Harare Sports Club.

Chasing a modest total of 119 runs, Zimbabwe bowled Pakistan out for a meagre 99 runs, with one ball to spare. It marked the first victory for Zimbabwe against the former world champions in the T20 format.

Pakistan’s wickets started falling after opener Mohammad Rizwan was dismissed for 13. Fakhar Zaman lost his wicket after he scored just two runs. Mohammad Hafeez made five, Danish Aziz 22 and Asif Ali only one.

Skipper Babar Azam anchored team’s inning for a while scoring 41 runs. However, it was not enough to reach the lowest total that was scored at the Harare Sports Club.

Luke Jongwe took four wickets for 18 runs. Ryan Burl took two wickets, while Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava took one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan restricted Zimbabwe to 118 runs. Fast bowler Arshad Iqbal was given the T20I debut cap in the match while middle-order batsman Asif Ali was recalled to the side. The two had replaced Haider Ali and Mohammad Nawaz.
