HEC releases Rs400mn for KU

Karachi: Higher Education Commission (HEC) has released the first instalment of Rs400mn to the University of Karachi from the grant of around 1.8 billion Rupees which was earlier approved by Planning Commission Islamabad in its meeting held in March, 2018 which was chaired by Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz.

Vice Chancellor KU Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ajmal Khan gave a detailed briefing to the members on the already proposed PC one proposal. The said grant was granted for the promotion of academic and research activities at KU.

Various projects including up gradation of teaching/research facilities in KU departments, new block for faculty of science and social sciences, 10 new buses for KU students, up gradation of biotechnology department, new building and state of the art facilities and equipment for KU’s Center for Digital Forensic Science and Technology and Visual Studies department, new block of Girls hostel for 200 students, Main Communication Network and gymnasium are included in the proposal.

“My supreme priority is KU’s up gradation and development; we will be in the ranking of world’s best universities if we get adequate funds. Our faculty members are highly committed in the field of academics and research,” Dr. Khan said.
